Layered Colors

Good morning! It's Sarah here with an easy technique to give your stamped projects instant depth.

One of my favorite ways to add dimension to a project is with paper piecing with colored cardstock. But I don't usually stop there. You can add even more depth by layering your favorite coloring medium on top of the cardstock. For this sympathy card using our Comforting Florals set, just a touch of a warm pink Copic marker around the edges of the petals and naturally shaded areas is enough to give the flowers depth. Can't find a coordinating color in your collection? A light gray Copic marker will create perfect shadows on almost any color cardstock.


You don't have to have Copic markers to get this look, either. Layer on a little colored pencil or watercolor medium in a slightly darker shade and you'll see a similar effect. Even water-based markers in a very light shade will create great depth. I hope you'll give it a try on your next project!
