So you've used your Market Street stamps on cards, adorned those sweet images on your layouts and even made them shine in your paper 3D projects and gifts. What else can you do with your Market Street Stamps? How about wear them?!! Hello crafty friends, Julie here to share a fun tutorial on how you can make your Market Street Stamps images into wearable art!
To start off, you will need the following items:
* stamp of your choice (something not to large)
* shrinky dink plastic sheets
* Staz-On ink and re-filler if necessary
* Copic markers
* large circle punch
* small hole punch
* heat gun
* beads of your choice
* wire or wire eyepins/headpins
* jump rings
* earring hooks
The first thing you want to do is stamp your image using the Staz-On ink on your shrinky dink plastic sheet. If your stamp pad seems to be sticking to your stamp, it may need some ink on the pad.
Let the ink dry for a couple of minutes and then flip the plastic sheet over and color in sections on the opposite side. The reason for coloring on the opposite side is that copic markers and Staz-On interact with each other. You could also use colored sharpie markers for this part too.
Using the large circle punch, punch out the bees and punch a smaller hole in the top of each circle.
For the next part you will need your heat gun. I usually place the object I'm heating in a cardboard box so it doesn't go flying all over the place, but you could also use something to anchor the plastic to your workplace by putting something through the hole like a paper piercer. Heat the plastic until it shrinks and shrivels up. Don't worry if it looks like it is going to be a crumpled mess, it WILL flatten :) You can use anything on hand to flatten it while it's still warm. When they've cooled, you should have a mini version of whatever you stamped.
To make them into earrings, make a loop at the end of two pieces of wire, thread your beads on and make a loop at the other end. Attach the bee pendant to one end with a jump ring and attach the other end to a ear hook and voila! Your very own wearable stamped art.
You can also find a link to a simple tutorial on my blog on how to wire wrap a loop for dangle earrings which is the technique I used for this set.
Thanks for stopping by and have a bee-utiful day!
