A Masking Tutorial!

Hello! It's DoBea here from The Flip Side of Me, to share a tutorial today!! Woot, woot!!

First off, I have got to tell you how much fun I have working with Market Street Stamps! I love the quality, it is simple unbeatable. The fact that you can see through them to know exactly where you are stamping, and then the crispness that the images have, it's just amazing.

Ok, enough of my praising {but I do hope you all know first hand of what I am talking about}.

The technique that I will be sharing with you is another type of masking.

The first thing I did was take the card base and inked the edges with a blending tool and Antique Linen Distress Ink to give it a vintage feel.

I then, took a peice of kraft cardstock and stamped it with the Grace background using Angel Pink Momento Ink.

In the picture above you can clearly see the background as it is still wet. But when the ink dries, the images will only show very faintly, adding just the slightest, prettiest addition.

Next, I cut out a label shape using my Silhouette Cameo {I absolutely love this thing!} and again distressed the edges using Antique Linen Distress Ink.

I then stamped the cake from Celebrate Cake on the label using Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. {Looking back, I should have used a different ink, such as Momento, that would not bleed when wet.}

On an scrap piece of paper, {I used a label that I had originally cut but was too large} I stamped the cake again and then cut it out to use as the mask.

On top of my craft mat, I taped my masking label on top of the label for the card. I then sprayed it with Tattered Angels' Vanilla Breeze.

As you can see, the spray is confined to the cake. When dry, I applied the pearls in the circles on the image.

And here is the finished product! I also sprayed the Prima flowers with the Vanilla Breeze and added a couple different ribbons to the kraft cardstock and then stamped the Happy Anniversary! in the Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.

Hi! My name is Jennifer Roach and I'm the November guest designer here at Market Street Stamps. I'm thrilled to share the three projects I created using the following stamps: Celebrate Cake set, Argyle background and Comfort Food.

Let's start with a Christmas card. I created the background by heat embossing the background with clear embossing powder (on water colour paper). Then I added red and green distress stains (Fired Brick and Forest Moss) to tint the background. I used some dyed seam binding and distressed patterned papers from Authentique to finish off my vintage inspired card.

Ink:  Versamark ink (for embossing), Distress Stain (Fired Brick and
Forest Moss)
Papers: Watercolour paper, Authenique Christmas papers
Accessories: Darice snowflake, button, twine, Making Memories tag,

Next up we have a fun card I created with the Comfort Food set. It's difficult to see from the photo but I added some Crystal Effects to the pot which gives it a nice shine and makes it look like stainless
steel. I used some older Cosmo Cricket papers which have a cooking theme. And how cute it is that you can add a smiley face to the stamps in this set?

Today actually happens to be my sixth wedding anniversary so I was inspired to create a wedding card using the Celebrate Cake set. I added some Liquid pearls to the image and made my own topper with some Prima flowers and pearls. I was cleaning out my scrap paper bin and found these beautiful SEI papers that were the starting point for my colour palette.

Birthday Flowers....

Hi everyone!  It's Amy here today with a fun, bright Birthday card using the flowers from the Comforting Florals stamp set.  I love to use a stamp set for things other than what it was made for.  This set is one of those!

Here the newest background, Cane, was embossed with clear embossing powder for a little added shine on the pink cardstock.  Since Comforting Florals is a sympathy set, I needed to search for a sentiment and I found it in the Celebrate Cake stamp set!!  You can also see a peek of another sentiment from Celebrate Cake on the inside.

My flowers were colored in with Copic RV25/R59 and the vase with BG10/BG13.

Celebrate {Tutorial}

Hi there!
It's Tifany and I've got a tutorial to share with you.
Hopefully you will see today that those awesome Market Street Stamps background stamps are great for so much more than just staying in the background.


On this card I've used two background stamps (Zebra Print and Pretty Perfect Grid) along with the Celebrate Cake image and sentiment set.

First, let's gather our supplies:


{Don't forget the Extra Large Acrylic Block for those big background stamps!}

You'll need to stamp the image onto a scrap of thin paper (or a Post It note, as I've done), and then stamp it again onto your cardstock.



Now you will need to carefully cut out your stamped image with a craft knife to create a mask.
{Wherever you want your background stamp to show through on your image, those are the pieces that should be cut out.}


Next, lay your mask on top of your image that has been stamped on the cardstock.
{Line up the images carefully and use removable adhesive to hold it in place.}

Then...ink up your background stamp...


...and stamp!

Remove your mask and check out your beautifully stamped image!
{Like paper piecing...only easier!}


If you want to add in another background, create another mask (this one covering the full stamped image) and stamp.


Remove the mask, add a sentiment...


...and add it to your card:

Damask Cake

This card was inspired by last week's color throwdown and this week's sketch over on CPS.

When I saw those four rectangular background panels in the sketch, I immediately thought of the lovely vintage wallpaper background from Market Street. I love that you can make it as polished or as distressed as you want for your project!

I paired the background up with the lovely Celebrate Cake set. I lightly colored it in with my prismacolor pencils. Then popped up one of the FOUR different toppers from the set on dimensionals.

To finish my card off, I used White Opal liquid pearls to add tiny dots along the base of each layer of cake. Then added a trio of ribbon tabs along the right-hand side to tie in the blue color some more.

Color Cue Challenge Week 1

I would like to give a great big fresh welcome to everyone out there for joining us as we unveil our adventure in challenges. Starting today we will be having two challenges a month.

On the first Wednesday of each month we will be providing a Color Cue, where you are given a few colors to incorporate into your projects. {Hopefully, you will find them super inspiring!}

And then, on the third Wednesday of each month you will be given a sketch or some other inspiration piece with some prompts to get your creative juices flowing.

So, you ask, how do I play?

Well, you are encouraged to make any type of project that you would like {be it a card, tag, layout, mixed media piece} as long as you are having fun! You will not be required to use Market Street Stamps to join in the fun, but in order to be eligible to win, you will need to use Market Street Stamps.

The deadline to join will be the second Tuesday after each challenge goes live. {We will have the date due at the bottom of each post, so you will have a specific date when the projects need to be linked by.}

There will be one randomly drawn winner for each challenge {Again, in order to be eligible to win, you need to use Market Street Stamps.} who will win a prize. The prize will be announced with each new challenge.

Make A Wish

Don't get me wrong...I love the images in the Market Street Stamps stamp sets, but I am consistently amazed at all the great sentiments! Other stamp companies might include one or two sentiments with their image, but Market Street Stamps makes sure to maximize that space and give you a real bang for your buck!

This card uses one of the many sentiments from the Celebrate Cake set:


One of the great benefits to clear photopolymer stamps is that they are a bit flexible, so you can add a slight curve if you so desire.
{You couldn't achieve that look with a traditional wood mounted rubber stamp.}


For this card I curved the stamp slightly on my acrylic block so that the sentiment would go with the curve on the front panel.

With this particular card design, you can use it vertically or horizontally - whatever your heart desires!

Congratulations!

Today's card is a mix of a must-have background stamp and pieces from two very versatile stamp sets.
{Everything is from Market Street Stamps, of course!}


I started off by stamping the Perfectly Pretty Grid stamp on basic white cardstock in a brown ink. I cleaned off my stamp and inked it again with a blue that matched my card base and stamped it slightly off from where I stamped the brown grid. I sprayed the background with some pearly mist (which I am not skilled enough to get to show up in pictures, unfortunately) and let it dry - then cut it to size.

{The Market Street Stamps background stamps are so big that they cover the front of an A2 card - so what you see here is a trimmed down version.}


Using the brown ink again I stamped "Congratulations!" which is one of the many fun sentiments in the Celebrate Cake set. I then trimmed around the sentiment and added it to my card front with some dimensional tape.


The stars were so easy thanks to the new Blast Off set. The blue stars are sprayed in pearly mist again (use that imagination to see it!) and they are all popped up with dimensional tape.
