The first card we have to share with you is this beauty:

Oooooohhh la la! Doesn't this card make you feel like your walking down the streets in Paris.... I LOVE how Tami paired Hippie Chic with Vintage Wallpaper on this rustic and elegant card! I never would have thought to pair the two, but the result is amazing! That deep red keeps your eye moving all around the card- taking it all in and ending with that beautiful sentiment. Just perfect!

The colors, that big, beautiful bow..... swwwwooooonnnnn! Haha! I love every last bit of this one! Tami used the Enjoy Today stamp set for the fabulous card!

Background Fun

Hi there!  Michele here bringing a little inky fun to your Tuesday.

Do you love background stamps as much as I do?

The backgounds here at Market Street Stamps are fabulous because not only do you get a perfectly crisp image, but you can cover an entire card front with one inking-just gotta love that!

Now, just because they are big stamps,
doesn't mean a little can't go a long way.

I love to use portions of backgrounds just like I did here.

I used just a bit of Vintage Music and Hearts A Plenty to make fun borders that compliment the ribbon strip and add to the cool vibe of my Hippie Chic card.  

I inked up just one stripe of the sweet little Hearts A Plenty border and layered it over a strip of Vintage Music that I dressed up with a border punch.  Really simple!

By stamping the guitar directly on the card front in red ink and then layering another fussy cut guitar over it, I was able to get a little dimension AND make sure the little heart shaped tuners were red to coordinate with the carefully inked 'heart' in the sentiment.

Love at first sight......

Hello Market Street friends.........It's Amy Kolling here with my first official post to the Market Street Stamps blog.  The title of my post is truly how I felt the first time I used the background stamps available here on Market Street!  I have been longing for full card front background stamps for so long and these are fabulous!! 

Today I've used the Bit of Burlap background stamp with my Distress Inks.  Starting with cardstock stamped in versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder, I sponged on Barn Door Distress Ink.  You can add a little or a lot.  The color is up to you.  Then going back over my panel with Tea Dye and Frayed Burlap Distress Inks to give it a weathered look.

The LOVE sentiment is from the Hippie Chic stamp set and was white heat embossed on red cardstock, cut out, mounted on brown die cut shape, and popped up over my twine embellishment.

I'm sure you will see me using lots of these background stamps.........they are a favorite of mine!  Do you have a favorite Market Street Stamp background?

Sing Out

The creative process for this card was somewhat {okay...a lot} backward from what I normally do. I started off using the colors from the current Color Cue challenge as my inspiration.
{I didn't look at the colors right before starting and obviously I had a little memory lapse when recalling the turquoise...I thought it was a softer blue.}


From there I was sitting in my "craft room" {aka - a corner of our bedroom floor in front of my side of the closet} and spied a piece of a vintage carpentry estimate form from my Grandpa's former business. I thought it might be fun to use that as an extra element behind my stamped background, so I grabbed it.

Now how did I decide to use the Zebra Print background?
Well, honestly... it was sitting on my nightstand from a baby shower card I had created a few days back and it was already mounted to my stamp press...so I just went with it.

I don't have a good grey ink that I wanted to use, so I pulled out an old silver stamp pad {literally from the early 90's...and still plenty juicy} and inked up the background stamp.


I was looking through my collection of stamps from Market Street Stamps to find a sentiment and thought this one from the Hippie chic set would work well. To add in the blue, I inked the same sentiment {I did clean the stamp first} and used it to create a distressed type look around the edge of my background.

It still needed a little something, so I added some stars from the Blast Off set {LOVE those stars!} and mounted the whole piece to a red card base. I finished it off with some adorable {tiny} staples.

Even with the unfamiliar creative process I think the card turned out great. I guess that's why it is called creativity!

Love You

I love making dimensional cards, but sometimes they just aren't practical for mailing.
This card is only one layer, but still packs a big punch.


I actually came up with the card design when I was feeling a little stuck with what to create, so I started stamping the "love" image (from the Hippie Chic set) repeatedly on some basic white cardstock.
Along the way I saw a cute card front forming, so I added the one focal stamped image in a slightly darker color.
I still thought it needed a little something, so I added the "you" (masked from a sentiment also in the Hippie Chic set).


A simple card with big impact that is perfect for surviving the postal journey!

Wanna Be {Patchwork Card}

I saw a piece of patterned paper that made me want to make a card that looked like patchwork, and I think the Vintage Wallpaper stamp was a great candidate for the look I was wanting.


I stamped each color of ink individually, using a piece of printer paper to mask off the areas that I didn't want to stamp on the card front.
{You could also create a similar look by stamping different colors or patterns on small scraps of cardstock and piecing them together as you would with an actual patchwork quilt.}


I used a small piece of stamped cardstock and adhered it to the back of a clear button to create a coordinating embellishment.

I stamped the sentiment {from the Hippie Chic set} and added the canvas flower to finish it off.

Dare to inspire

Spring is here, and I find it so inspiring. The sun is shinning, flowers are blooming, birds are chirping... and we can WEAR NICE CLOTHES AGAIN. I'm from Canada, so our winters are cold, long and frumpy :)

I love this dress stamp from the Hippie Chic collection. There is so much you can do with it (if you don't like the flower pot and the stick, just chop it off to have a funky dress on its own)

I paired mine with a couple of painted chipboard butterflies, after coloring it in with Copics, and added a whimsical paper to give the butterflies flight.

Sending Good Vibes

Hi, everyone! Steph here! So nice to see you today! I have a card I'd like to share with you! Here it is:

So- here's the play-by-play: I used this weeks sketch from Card Patterns as a starting point and then chose my color combination. I decided to make this one a little rustic- cream, kraft, chocolate brown, red, and teal. One of my FAVORITE color combinations of all time- love it!

I stamped the new Woodgrain background stamp with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Then, I took my blending tool and added some color around the edges.

The sentiment is of course from the beautiful Hippie Chic set- I reach for that set all the time for these beautiful sentiments.

The patterned paper is from Echo Park's For The Record line- I don't buy a lot of patterned paper, people, but I have this line.... that says a lot!

You're an Inspiration

Hi there and happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there! I hope your kids and family are spoiling you rotten today!!!

I'm sharing a sweet but not-too-frilly card that I made for my own mom for today. I used Card Patterns' sketch #112 from a couple weeks ago since it was perfect for the idea I had in mind.


I can't get enough of Market Street's So Happy set, so here are those wonderful daisy-like flowers again. I did some simple masking to create a little grouping of them. Then added that adorable butterfly popped up on dimensionals and his trail behind him.

My sentiment is from March's new set Hippie Chic. I love how all of Market Streets sets just work together. The sentiments and images are so interchangeable. It really gives you a lot of bang for your buck.


My favourite part of the card is the hidden pocket behind my main image panel. I tucked a tiny tag that I made out of the same decorative paper I used on my card behind the image panel and stuffed it with a gift. You can see it peeking out in the first photo above.

Here's a brief tutorial on how to achieve that:

• Mount your main image panel up on dimensionals. Make sure you only put one small dimensional in each corner of your image panel.
• Make a tag out of decorative paper or cardstock about 1 inch longer than your image panel.
• Fold up the bottom at the 1-inch mark to make a pocket. Staple or tape the sides closed.
• Insert money into the pocket you just made.
• Round or notch the corners of your tag.
• Punch a hole in the top of your tag.
• Insert a snippet of ribbon so the tag can be removed easily.
• Insert the entire tag behind your image panel, peeking out ever so slightly. [But not so much that the money shows. You just want to pique your receiver's interest!]
  

UNIQUE

Today I am going to show you a card using two of the March release stamp sets - Zebra Print and Hippie Chic.
{I LOVE all those great sentiments in the Hippie Chic set, don't you?}


I used some dies to cut the card and the panel pieces, then added a little bit of ruffled cardstock and a strip of vintage flocked ribbon (which I trimmed to match the die cut cardstock piece).

I did some masking on the sentiment to add a little flair. It took some patience to get it looking good, but I think it was worth it.


Since the Zebra Print background is such a large stamp, I had some extra left over after I die cut the front panel of my card - so I decided to add a little spice to the back of the card.

Peace Canvas

Working with glossy paper can be both challenging but rewarding. Here I used alcohol inks on a piece of glossy paper before stamping a sentiment on it from the Hippie Chic set with Staz-on ink. Then with a light grey Memento ink I stamped the guitar image over the sentiment.

Then on vellum I stamped the same guitar in grey ink, cut around it and up the middle and glued it onto the glossy paper, then everything was glued onto the canvas.

Rainbow Love

With all of the spring rain storms we've had passing through lately, I've been hoping to see a rainbow or two peeking through the clouds. But since I haven't been lucky enough to see any, I thought I would make a rainbow inspired card instead!

I used one of my favorite background sets Hearts a Plenty and several different ink colors to create the rainbow effect. I only used the left-hand row of the background stamp and inked it, stamped, then repeated to achieve this look. That way there was no masking required!

Here is the list of inks I used in case anyone is interested, starting from the left:

• Versamagic Reg Magic
• Palette Orangerie
• Palette Paris Lights
• Palette Viridian Leaf
• Palette Reflection Blue
• Palette French Lilac

I used the little love sentiment from Hippie Chic stamped in Palette New Canvas ink. The tiny heart was accented with my Sakura red star Gelly Roll pen. I finished my card off with a bit of red sparkle twine and a clear acrylic heart.

This just makes me smile looking at it. I hope it brings a smile to your face, too!

I can't believe that the month of April is almost half over already! Before we know it Summer will be here and our days will be filled with the fresh smell of grass, the sound of kids playing outside, and the feel of warm sunshine.

For this fun, springy card I used the set Hippie Chic, which I love oh, so much. It makes me happy!!

What I did today was repetition stamping. It's great for those medium to small stamps that you love to use, and don't want a whole lot of white space left over.

Color Cue Challenge Week 1

I would like to give a great big fresh welcome to everyone out there for joining us as we unveil our adventure in challenges. Starting today we will be having two challenges a month.

On the first Wednesday of each month we will be providing a Color Cue, where you are given a few colors to incorporate into your projects. {Hopefully, you will find them super inspiring!}

And then, on the third Wednesday of each month you will be given a sketch or some other inspiration piece with some prompts to get your creative juices flowing.

So, you ask, how do I play?

Well, you are encouraged to make any type of project that you would like {be it a card, tag, layout, mixed media piece} as long as you are having fun! You will not be required to use Market Street Stamps to join in the fun, but in order to be eligible to win, you will need to use Market Street Stamps.

The deadline to join will be the second Tuesday after each challenge goes live. {We will have the date due at the bottom of each post, so you will have a specific date when the projects need to be linked by.}

There will be one randomly drawn winner for each challenge {Again, in order to be eligible to win, you need to use Market Street Stamps.} who will win a prize. The prize will be announced with each new challenge.
